Naomi Siegel
SIEGEL–Naomi, age 83, died October 28, 2021 at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Mrs. Siegel was born February 18, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Irene and Samuel Gelber. After graduating from University of Illinois, she became a teacher and married Dr. Howard Siegel. The couple moved to New York City in 1961, where they have remained to this day.
Naomi had three children Stacey, Jeffrey and Laurence. In 1967, she underwent the first successful surgery on the ascending aorta. Despite her heart conditions, she attended Bank Street College of Education and earned her masters in Counseling. She used her degree to lead parenting groups. She loved speaking with mothers and holding sessions to give advice and learn from one another. She had multiple heart surgeries, but continued to do activities she loved including: tennis, bike riding, horseback riding, and kayaking.
Naomi had four grandchildren Gabrielle, Sabrina, Ari and Ava, who referred to her as Nana. She loved spending family time together at her house in Quogue. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband along with taking their grandchildren on trips all over the world. She enjoyed going to Broadway shows, participating in book clubs, and trying new restaurants. She always had a glass of red wine waiting for her at 5pm.
Naomi was strong and used all her energy that she could to spend time with loved ones and make sure she was always in the know on what was going on in their lives.
